Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Design

L | L + B is proud of its long-standing reputation for designing high performance buildings well before green design became a re-emerging trend. With raised awareness, nearly all of our clients are asking about LEED, and at the same time, the LEED system is constantly changing and evolving. The increase in belief and passion for Sustainable Design techniques, both nationally and within our own office, has led many of our staff to acquire LEED accreditation. At this time, Principals Christian J. Ladds, Kathleen A. Bartels, R. Drayton Fair, Senior Associates Aimee Goodwin Lombardo and Suzanne diSalvo, and Project Manager JB Eric Smith have all passed the United States Green Building Council accreditation examination.
All of the buildings designed by our firm take into account some measure of sustainable design. Many opportunities exist for exploration of responsible sustainable design, from utilizing traditional building siting and design methods, to increasing the opportunity for natural day-lighting and reducing dependence on artificial lighting, to the use of gray water systems from recycled rainwater collected from the roof. The responsible choices of recycled interior finish materials as well as new advancements in energy-efficient lighting help to reduce the draw on the environment.
