In 2007 the Town of Walpole hired Lerner | Ladds + Bartels to update and re-envision the library design that had previously been accepted for a
construction grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The new project proposes a design for a new 32,000 square foot library at the corner of School and Stone Streets between the Town Hall and the historic Blackburn Hall which meets the expanding library services required by the Town. Using economical library planning to accommodate the library’s twenty- year programmatic goals, Lerner | Ladds + Bartels has designed a new building that uses traditional
materials and forms in new ways to symbolize the proud civic image of the Library as a Town Community Center. Planned with an eye to sustainable features, the building will contain the latest systems and materials available.
A multi – disciplinary, award – winning architecture firm, Lerner | Ladds + Bartels has left its imprint on the landscape for over 70 years. Our strength is the diversity of work, including institutional, historic restoration, adaptive reuse, commercial and residential projects. While the firm continues to grow and evolve, a commitment to thoughtful design remains at our core.
