For over one hundred years the Upton Town Library has served its community in the Center of the Town in increasingly cramped and inaccessible quarters. The scope of this feasibility study was to develop a schematic design for a new library facility at the new planned “village”
development which meets the expanding library services required by the Town.
Lerner | Ladds + Bartels and their consultants reviewed 5 sites relative to their ability to accept and integrate the proposed expansion of library services to adequately accommodate the library’s twenty-year programmatic goals. The final choice was a new building as the centerpiece of a new urban village close to the historic heart of West Upton. The proposed building’s classic design is the highlight of the new common, transitions between the urban and residential scales of the site and allows for a full, flexible and expandable program for the Library for many years to come.
A multi – disciplinary, award – winning architecture firm, Lerner | Ladds + Bartels has left its imprint on the landscape for over 70 years. Our strength is the diversity of work, including institutional, historic restoration, adaptive reuse, commercial and residential projects. While the firm continues to grow and evolve, a commitment to thoughtful design remains at our core.
